Former Great British Sewing Bee contestants

Alex

In the heart of Derbyshire resides our skilled copywriter and editor, Alex. Her affection for crafting dates back to her childhood years. She’d frequently create homemade plush toys using her sewing skills.

Outside of sewing, Alex is passionate about sustainability and believes “comfort is key”.

Comfort

Prior to becoming a self-employed designer and business manager, Comfort trained as an architect.

She began sewing after giving birth to her first child and feeling she was lacking creativity.

Don

Over 70 years ago, Don learned to sew from his mother using an old-fashioned hand-crank machine. Now, he’s known for being meticulous and enjoys making unique yet uncomplicated clothing.

Georgie

Georgie has a strong enthusiasm for sustainability and gives new life to old tablecloths and quilted blankets by recycling them. In addition to sewing, this musically inclined individual, known as DJ Georgie, delights in the craft of knitting.

Janet

Janet has a fondness for creating elegant, formal gowns for vacations and dance lessons when she’s not occupied with sewing, and her other deep-rooted passion is oil painting.

Lauren

Lauren draws inspiration for her sewing projects from the vibrant fashion trends of the 1980s, which she finds captivating. In her current role as a finance administrator, she balances her time outside of work by pursuing her passion for singing, just like her mother did before her.

Marcus

Marcus, an avid fan of DJing, rollerblading, writing, creating art, constructing Legos, and playing video games, prefers the term “vibrant, eye-catching, or retro” to describe his clothing.

Neil

Neil picked up the skill of sewing due to his inability to find appropriately sized vintage clothes for his six-foot-four stature. In his free time outside of sewing, Neil conducts intriguing bike tours with a focus on murder mysteries.

Suzy

Suzy frequently sources curtains and bedsheets from charity shops for her projects, and she isn’t shy about incorporating large frills and oversized sleeves into her creations.

The Great British Sewing Bee airs on Tuesday 21st May on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm.
