The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Get All-New Funko Pops

Recently, Cartoon Network has been quite prominent in my thoughts. They recently launched a Hot Topic collection and Funko Pop figurines for beloved shows such as Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Now, they’re teaming up with Funko again to unveil some fantastic new Funko Pops based on The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy series.

The television series that aired from 2003-2007 was a success among children due to its eccentric, extraterrestrial plots interwoven with dark, comedic antics from all three protagonists. The latest release brilliantly brings the characters to life, especially Grim, whose skeletal figure deviates slightly from the standard Funko Pop round form. Billy and Mandy appear exactly as they do in their typical animated forms, with Billy still sporting his habitual tongue-out look. These Pop figures will become available starting today, February 26th at 12pm ET, available here at Entertainment Earth and also on Amazon. Don’t forget to explore the other Funko Pop releases for today in our weekly roundup as well!

Fan-favorite TV Show Ben 10 Almost had its Own “Multi-Verse”

In a recent discussion about X, the creator of Ben 10, Duncan Rouleau, revealed that their initial plan was to establish a universe with multiple worlds, similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which would have intertwined with other shows such as Generator Rex from 2010.

In a nutshell, the aim was to develop a Marvel Cinematic Universe-like world for Cartoon Network. Among those characters, Generator Rex was one of them. Regrettably, the concept was too grandiose for the network to handle effectively.

In simpler terms, they wanted to establish a universe similar to the Marvel movies on Cartoon Network. Generator Rex was among these characters, but it turned out that the idea was too complex to manage within their multiverse.

In simpler terms, Rouleau stated that while Ben appears in various other shows, a challenge with crossovers is that viewers’ expectations for their beloved characters aren’t always fulfilled. This is because adjustments are often necessary to ensure no character outshines the other, leading to toning down aspects like power levels, problem-solving skills, and personality traits to give both characters equal attention.

Although such a concept could have been groundbreaking and quite an achievement in cartoon production, considering that even the mere crossovers were causing complications, one can only imagine the challenges that a massive multi-verse might have presented.
