The Grinch Goes on Vacation in New Dr. Seuss Graphic Novel

As an experienced gamer of all things whimsical and fantastical, I must say, the arrival of Dr. Seuss Graphic Novel: The Grinch Takes a Vacation has me grinning from ear to ear! It’s been quite some time since the Grinch graced our bookshelves with his mischievous charm, and now he’s back to embark on an entirely new adventure.

You’re a relaxed one, Mr. Grinch. Nearly 70 years after the holiday-hating Grinch stole Christmas in the beloved book by Dr. Seuss, the reformed green grump is going on vacation in the new Dr. Seuss Graphic Novel: The Grinch Takes a Vacation. The chapter book graphic novel, from children’s illustrator and comic artist Kaeti Vandorn (indie bestsellers Crabapple Trouble and Monster Friends), tells the new Grinch story in an easy-to-read paneled storytelling format to act as a bridge for young readers transitioning to chapter books.

1957’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! expanded his heart significantly, but even so, The Grinch remains “a tad mean and undeniably green” in The Grinch Takes a Vacation. After the cranky resident of Mount Crumpet learned to appreciate Christmas with the Whos of Whoville, he’s now attempting to grasp another unfamiliar concept: taking a vacation.

According to the story summary, “The Grinch seems puzzled during the Whoville vacation season. He doesn’t know what a vacation means. Curious about the excitement of the Whos, he decides to take his own vacation! However, the snowy mountains, sandy beaches, and loud theme parks are not to his liking… Maybe vacations aren’t for Grinches? But Max, his loyal dog, isn’t ready to give up on the Grinch just yet!”
