How The Gutter alleviates what’s missing in modern comedies

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but notice that today’s comedies seem to lack the charm of the classics from our youth. Reading this script, however, felt like a delightful throwback, causing me to laugh out loud repeatedly. My husband, who was in another part of the house, would often hear my exclamations as I shared hilarious lines with him. It’s not every day that one comes across something so genuinely funny. So, when I had the opportunity to get involved, I jumped at the chance.

Moore expressed that reading the script was what sealed the deal for him. He was pleased with how it unfolded and as long as people find it amusing, he’s content. The positive feedback has significantly boosted his confidence about the project, considering his insecurities regarding comedy [laughs]. It was enjoyable collaborating with the cast, given their comedic talent, intelligence, and wit. Even working with D’Arcy was a delight.

Working with Susan Sarandon

In the movie titled “The Gutter“, Susan Sarandon portrays the role of renowned bowling champion Linda “The Crusher”. Carden shared his experience working alongside Sarandon, expressing admiration by saying, “It was an absolute joy and a delight to work with her. Initially, Shameik and I were a bit starstruck on our first day. She’s such a legend who brings an incredible blend of strength, professionalism, and beauty. You can’t help but feel awestruck by her presence. Yet, she remains so down-to-earth and cool. It’s remarkable that she agreed to star in this small-budget, quirky comedy. The fact that she found joy in it speaks volumes about her passion for her craft. We absolutely adored working with her – she is truly amazing.

Under the guidance of directors Yassir Lester and Isaiah Lester, the film titled “The Gutter” features Shameik Moore, Susan Sarandon, D’Arcy Carden, and Paul Reiser. You can catch it playing in theaters or stream it digitally at this moment.
