As someone who has spent countless hours navigating through zombie-infested cities in various games, I must say that the announcement of Dying Light: The Beast has piqued my interest significantly. Having played both Dying Light 1 and Dying Light 2: Stay Human, I’m intrigued to see how Kyle Crane’s story unfolds in this new standalone game.

View Urgent ForecastAt the Game Awards event, we got a first look at a new trailer, gameplay insights, and an estimated launch timeframe for Dying Light: The Beast, revealing more about this upcoming game.
At the Gamescom event held in August 2024, Techland officially introduced Dying Light: The Beast – an independent game within the franchise that offers a self-contained zombie survival experience centered around the narrative of Kyle Crane. Fans of the original Dying Light may recall Crane, also known as the Hero of Harran, as the main character in this new release.
In Dying Light 2: Stay Human, you won’t find Crane character present in the game, but his influence is felt throughout. Techland initially intended to develop a second DLC pack for Dying Light 2 with Crane as the lead character, but they ultimately changed their plans. This shift in direction sparked an idea that transformed DLC2 of Dying Light 2 into a unique standalone world, offering over 18 hours of content.
In the latest “Meet the Baron” video, it’s revealed that Kyle Crane has been subjected to some sort of experimentation. A man in a suit delivers an impassioned speech about a divine mission before we witness Crane trying to break free from his torment chamber. Later, we see Crane fighting again amidst the terrifying landscape filled with the undead. Crane is depicted using grenade launchers and crossbows, and performing death-defying parkour maneuvers to navigate this world.
If you’ve bought Dying Light 2 Stay Human’s Ultimate Edition or upgraded to it, you won’t receive the second promised DLC for the game. But don’t worry, if you own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2, you’ll get Dying Light: The Beast for free when it becomes available. Techland has also assured they will continue supporting Dying Light 2 with content updates and events for five years after launch, although they’re not working on any more DLC at the moment.
In the summer of 2025, players can expect the arrival of “Dying Light: The Beast” on popular gaming platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, and PlayStation.
