As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for gripping narrative adventures and tactical RPGs, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming release of “The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy“. The fact that it’s from the minds behind Danganronpa and Zero Escape series only heightens my anticipation.
On April 24, 2025, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy will debut simultaneously in the west and Japan for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. This exciting announcement has been made by publishers XSEED Games and Aniplex, along with developers Too Kyo Games and Media.Vision.
In this Switch release, you can purchase either a physical or digital copy. The regular edition will retail for $59.99, whereas the limited edition will sell for $99.99. The more expensive version offers a host of bonus items: the game itself, an art book showcasing artists Rui Komatsuzaki and Shimadoriru’s work, a CD with 10 songs from the game’s soundtrack, an acrylic diorama featuring the main characters, a Last Defense Academy pin made of metal, a lenticular art card, a printed copy of an exclusive The Hundred Line short novel, and 15 character artwork cards.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
The new adventure game titled “Project Extreme x Despair” has arrived, created by Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi!
Takumi Sumino, a typical teenager residing within the Tokyo Residential Complex – where each day blends into the next with no hint of danger or excitement – finds his routine shattered when bizarre monstrosities assault the town, causing destruction everywhere. A peculiar entity named Sirei emerges and proposes granting Takumi the ability to safeguard those he cherishes; the catch is a self-inflicted wound on his chest!
Unaware of what’s happening, Takumi finds himself enrolled at Last Defense Academy, a secluded school encircled by strange, fiery walls. Alongside 14 other students, he is conscripted into the Special Defense Unit, a group dedicated to securing the school for the following 100 days. How far will they go to reclaim their ordinary lives and defend the world against the monstrous intruders who have invaded this school?
Key Features
- 100 Extreme Despair-Filled Endings – Takumi’s choices will decide his future, but there’s no telling what kind of consequences these decisions might have…
