Weruche Opia, who plays true crime podcaster Riz in The Jetty, said it was the “perfect setting”.

“The scenery around Lancashire, where we shot, is incredibly picturesque,” she remarked. “It’s hard to believe that such secrets could be concealed beneath the tranquil surface of this quaint lake community.”

Kilgarriff also described the location as a “very changeful place”.

She went on to explain, “During our shoot, we were located in the vicinity of Lancashire, and it was wintertime. Consequently, the environment was quite untamed. Yet, despite its ruggedness, there was an astonishing amount of natural beauty to behold.”

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I can tell you from my perspective, the environment holds an inherent sense of risk. For me, the town was never meant to be an idyllic, picture-perfect setting. Instead, it needed to feel authentic yet refined. And that’s precisely where the lake comes into play. It’s a stunningly beautiful yet untamed and untamed body of water that perfectly embodies our vision.

Hollingworth Lake

People familiar with the region will identify Hollingworth Lake, located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

The executive producer of the show, Elizabeth Kilgariff, explained why Hollingworth Lake was chosen as the central location for the series: “From the moment we discovered it, we felt a strong connection.”

I’ve come across a lake that leaves me in awe, its chill in the bone kind. Every sunrise paints a scene with fog hovering above its depths, reflecting an ethereal glow. Swans gracefully cut through this veil, adding to its enchanting allure. It’s hard for my mind to conceive of a more captivating sight.

The team and their equipment arrived in the quaint market town of Todmorden, situated approximately 17 miles northeast of Manchester in West Yorkshire.

Todmorden was one of the locations used for ITV mystery horror Passenger.

The police station

I saw a police station on the show that wasn’t real; it was constructed specifically for filming inside an existing building in Manchester. The production team built a set there.
