The Killer Stars Reveal a Real Motorcycle on Fire Was Used for a Key Shot in the Film

As a gamer with a rich background of action movies and an undying affection for John Woo’s masterpieces, I must say that the remake of his iconic film, “The Killer,” has left me utterly spellbound. The casting choices are nothing short of inspired, especially Nathalie Emmanuel stepping into Chow Yun-Fat’s shoes and Omar Sy bringing his charm to Sey.

Today marks the release of John Woo’s remake of one of his classic movies, originally titled “The Killer” from 1989, which featured Chow Yun-Fat as a hitman. In this updated version, actress Nathalie Emmanuel from “Game of Thrones” and the Fast Saga is stepping into the role. The new cast also includes Omar Sy (“Lupin”) as Sey, Eric Cantona (“The Fragile Colossus”, “Elizabeth”) as Gobert, Tch?ky Karyo (“Le Femme Nikita”, “GoldenEye”) as Tessier, and Gr?gory Montel (“Call My Agent!”, “Transatlantic”) as Jax. During an interview with ComicBook, Emmanuel and Sy shared that a motorcycle was set ablaze and jumped over them during an action-packed scene in the film.

Sy chuckled when asked if he ever envisioned shooting guns while a motorcycle was passing over his head. “To be honest, it’s incredible to engage in what we do, and having this movie opportunity to shoot a John Woo film in Paris… far beyond anything I could have dreamt of… Honestly, I never thought about it happening, but we are incredibly grateful and thrilled for the experience,” he said. “Seeing the finished movie is just incredible, and we’re incredibly proud.”

Absolutely, that’s correct. We did indeed witness a motorcycle passing above us. To clarify, yes, it happened.”

Emmanuel mentioned, “That stunt performer, unfortunately, I can’t tell you his name, but he performed an act that I had never witnessed personally – leaping over an entire set while ablaze.” He continued, “Indeed, he was performing it with his eyes closed…”

In this scenario, following his jump, there’s approximately four to five meters until another wall, as Sy pointed out. This means he needs to land and halt himself in that distance. Given his exceptional skills, he’s certainly capable of it.

In this movie, titled “The Killer“, Nathalie Emmanuel plays Zee, a notorious assassin who goes by the name of the Queen of the Dead in the Paris underworld. However, when she’s tasked by her enigmatic mentor Finn (Sam Worthington) to kill a blind woman named Jenn (Diana Silvers) at a nightclub, Zee defies this order. This decision will strain her relationships, catch the interest of sharp detective Sy (Omar Sy), and lead her into a dangerous web of crime that could bring her face-to-face with her own history.

The screenplay for “The Killer” originates from Oscar-winning writer Brian Helgeland, known for films like “L.A. Confidential” and “Mystic River”. It is produced by fellow Oscar winner Charles Roven (“Oppenheimer”, “American Hustle”) and Alex Gartner (“Uncharted”, “Warcraft”) under Atlas Entertainment, as well as John Woo and Lori Tilkin deFelice for Better Tomorrow Films. The film’s executive producers are Terence Chang and Robin Fisichella.
