The King of The Hill Revival Needs to Give Bill His Happy Ending

The popular series “King of The Hill” is coming back for its 14th season this August, as Hulu is bringing back Hank Hill and his friends to television once more, much like they did with shows such as “Futurama” and “Animaniacs”. Although there are many unanswered questions about Hank, Peggy, and Bobby returning to Arlen, Texas, a recently released preview online has given animation enthusiasts some tantalizing hints about what’s in store. When it comes to the upcoming revival, one of the things the show should accomplish is finally giving Bill Dauterive the satisfying ending he truly deserves.

In 2009, the final episode of “King of the Hill” aired, titled “To Sirloin With Love.” This episode saw Bobby developing a love for grilling, hinting at his future career as a chef. One of the last scenes involving Bill provided another amusing jab at his character. When Bobby’s team won the “Texas State Meat Grading Finals,” everyone was rejoicing, but Bill had no one to celebrate with. In a touching moment, he was seen hugging a baby cow, and later showed up at the Hill’s BBQ gathering, effectively wrapping up both the series and Bill’s role in it. However, the recent announcement of a new series introduction this summer may not bode well for Bill’s prospective happy ending.

Bill Vs. COVID

After the original “King of The Hill” series concluded, a significant amount of time passed before the fourteenth season began. The fresh introduction, which you can view above, depicts Hank and his family departing Arlen. Meanwhile, Boomhauer, Bill, and Dale continue their lives, eventually welcoming the enigmatic man who purchased the Hill residence into their circle. Boomhauer seems to have found a new love interest, while Dale pursues a mayoral campaign. However, Bill’s story takes an unexpected turn in classic Bill fashion – he is shown coughing and disappearing from the intro, which leads viewers to speculate that he contracted COVID-19 during the show’s hiatus. Unfortunately, Bill does not reappear for the rest of the introduction, leaving fans curious about his fate throughout the series’ absence.

To date, fans of “King of The Hill” have discovered that Hank moved his family to Saudi Arabia, where they lived in an impeccable replica of an idyllic American neighborhood due to work. As Hank’s friends continue residing in Arlen, the creators haven’t offered many details about Bill thus far; however, promotional images suggest that Bill has survived his suspected bout with COVID-19. Fortunately, Stephen Root – Bill’s original voice actor – will reprise his role, demonstrating that Dauterive retains a significant part in this “new world.

What Does A Happy Ending For Bill Look Like?

In the initial thirteen seasons of “King of The Hill,” Bill found himself enduring hardships that most other characters wouldn’t dare to imagine coping with. Battling depression and loneliness, Bill’s character was a source of laughter, but he also had an endless series of problems in his life. This isn’t to say that Bill finding love and settling down will automatically solve all his issues, but it could potentially mean Dauterive discovering self-acceptance.

As I immersed myself among weightlifters and athletes, I noticed a significant growth in my muscle mass. To my delight, I was embraced by these groups despite my struggle with diabetes confining me to a wheelchair. In the seventh season, Dauterive found himself in a blissful relationship with Kahn’s mother – one of the most joyous periods of my character’s life. Although this romance didn’t last forever, it served as proof that even secondary characters could find love multiple times over. Now that news of a King of The Hill revival has surfaced, fans are left wondering if this is just the beginning of many new seasons, implying that the fourteenth season might not be the final one. Here’s to hoping that when this revival concludes, it will provide my character with the well-deserved ending he’s long overdue for.
