The Last of Us Part 2 Announced for PC

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as The Last of Us Part 2 is finally making its way to PC in April 2025. The original game was an absolute masterpiece that left me emotionally drained yet yearning for more, and I have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to continue Ellie’s journey.

In 2025, “The Last of Us Part 2” will make its debut on PC. This highly acclaimed video game franchise, with just two games, has captivated gamers for years. As Naughty Dog wrapped up the Uncharted series, it prepared to delve into another blockbuster title. In stark contrast to Uncharted, The Last of Us offers a more mature and ominous tale set in a post-apocalyptic world. The game was lauded for its compelling narrative and captivating characters, even outshining “Grand Theft Auto V” to win Game of the Year in 2013. To date, the series has sold tens of millions of copies, inspired numerous remasters/remakes, and a successful HBO series that also garnered numerous awards.

For the past few years, PlayStation has been making some top-tier games available on personal computers. The remake of the first installment of “The Last of Us,” which was initially released for PS5, made its way onto PC in 2023, giving a fresh chance to many people to experience the critically acclaimed survival horror game. Now, its sequel, “The Last of Us Part 2,” is set to follow suit on PC in April.

On April 3rd, 2025, we’ll see an upgraded edition of The Last of Us Part 2 for PC, which includes additional content like commentary from developers, a roguelike survival mode, and the option to play Ellie’s guitar freely. This enhanced version also boasts visual improvements and platform-specific optimizations. To play this PC version, you’ll need a PlayStation Network account, and it will support DualSense integration fully. You can watch the first trailer for this release below.

Fingers crossed that things go smoothly with this release. Initially, the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 was problematic, filled with bugs and poorly optimized for even top-tier computer hardware. But, it’s worth noting that most PlayStation games ported to PC have been quite successful. This specific port was a collaboration between Naughty Dog, Iron Galaxy, and Nixxes. The Last of Us Part 2 will be among the select PS5 titles moving to PC in 2025, joining Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as part of this group.

Currently, I’m thrilled to bits about Naughty Dog’s ongoing projects! Among them is the much-anticipated third installment of “The Last of Us,” but what has my heart racing is a brand new intellectual property they’re brewing, featuring none other than the incredible Troy Baker. As of now, it appears that this fresh franchise will take center stage before we get our hands on “The Last of Us Part 3.” However, the order could still shift; only time will tell. Regardless, Naughty Dog’s creative prowess has kept me enthralled even though their last game release was back in 2020!
