The Last of Us S2E3: Ellie’s Vengeful Journey Begins After Tragic Loss

In a sneak peek for Episode 3 of The Last of Us Season 2, there are hints about the consequences stemming from the intense and sorrowful events in the previous episode. Airing on Sunday, April 27 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, Episode 3 will focus on the repercussions of [SPOILERS]’ death and how it affects Ellie (Bella Ramsey), Tommy (Gabriel Luna), and Dina (Isabela Merced).

In the second season of HBO’s post-apocalyptic drama, we find Joel and Ellie’s story progressing five years after the end of season one. Following their initial settlement in Jackson, Wyoming as shown in Episode 1, a strain has developed between them, which is further widened by the events unfolding in Episode 2, causing not only a rift between the pair but also significant turmoil for the entire town.

As HBO’s “The Last of Us” series progresses along a similar path as Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us Part 2”, the upcoming third episode is expected to lead Ellie down an intriguing path.

The Last of Us S2 Episode 3 Trailer Hints at Pivotal Ellie Scenes

Head’s Up: The following content reveals plot details from The Last of Us Season 2‘s second episode and The Last of Us: Part 2 video game. Proceed with caution if you don’t want the surprises spoiled!

A brief sneak peek at the upcoming chapter of The Last of Us, accompanied by fresh images from Episode 3, offers viewers a glimpse into Ellie’s (played by Bella Ramsey) forthcoming adventure.

As a movie lover, I can’t help but anticipate a substantial part of this upcoming episode delving into Ellie’s emotional journey following the heart-wrenching demise of Joel, played masterfully by Pedro Pascal. The trailer opens with Ellie in a hospital bed, connected to machinery that’s mending her fractured ribs. Upon regaining consciousness, Ellie’s first waking moments are haunted by memories of the terrifying events she’s recently endured.

As I sit here, my heart heavy with sorrow, I find myself shedding tears alongside Tommy (Gabriel Luna), mourning his dearly departed brother, whose lifeless body lies wrapped in a sheet among the remnants of those lost to the infected’s brutal attack on Jackson.

In the video game “The Last of Us Part 2,” there’s a scene where Ellie tenderly holds Joel’s coat, repeating an action she performs in the game following her visit to Joel’s home to gather some of his personal items.

In Episode 3, we can expect a brief leap forward in time, as indicated by the teaser. Notably, Ellie is depicted kneeling at Joel’s grave, which is now devoid of snow, contrasting with the previous episode that was set during the peak of winter.

Later on, Dina (Isabela Merced), who was with Joel when he passed away and was subsequently taken captive (though unconscious) by Abby and her Fireflies gang, shares this information with Ellie: she knows the identities of those responsible for Joel’s death and has a clue about their whereabouts. She presents Ellie with a drawing depicting a symbol she recalls: a wolf emblem bearing the letters “WLF.

Ellie inquires about the identity of the girl with braided hair, which Dina reveals as Abby (portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever). This revelation prompts Ellie to embark on a training regimen fueled by vengeance, during which she can be seen venting her anger on a punching bag.

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but be thrilled by the tantalizing glimpses of Ellie’s adversaries in the teaser. The formidable forces of the WLF are depicted marching along a verdant avenue, their rifles at the ready and tanks rumbling behind them. This vivid display underscores their numerical superiority and firepower, leaving me with an ominous sense of anticipation for what’s to come.

If the storyline continues as seen in “The Last of Us Part 2”, this episode marks the beginning of Ellie’s quest to reach Seattle, a destination chosen to exact revenge on Abby for past wrongs.
