Please be advised, if you haven’t watched the recent episode of ‘The Last of Us’ that aired on HBO or streamed through Max, there are spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution!
In the fifth episode of the second season of “The Last of Us”, emotions stirred by Joel’s gruesome demise were just starting to find a place in our thoughts, when suddenly the tear-jerking ending from “Feel Her Love” left us all in an emotional turmoil. Despite the heartache that Ellie’s sudden recollection of Pedro Pascal’s character brought upon fans, causing widespread weeping, it also paved the way for this week’s episode which delved into the beloved relationship between Joel and Ellie, so I can’t help but appreciate it.
With most episodes of Season 2 now scheduled for 2025, I’m getting ready again to share my real-time thoughts on Episode 6. Let’s hope there won’t be too many instances where I need to comment on a single tear-jerking moment from Joel, as one should suffice. Don’t forget to read my earlier reviews before we proceed.

Episode 6 Live Blog Starts Here
Greetings, enthusiasts of “The Last of Us”, here’s a twofold adventure: delve into this week’s episode while simultaneously navigating the swampy terrain that intertwines my deep feelings and humor. I value your presence just as much as I admire Dina’s impeccable hairdo, which means you hold a significant place in my heart!
While we count down the last few minutes before the episode starts, let me share some positive guesses that have been swirling in my mind.
- That the museum scene is amazing.
- That the museum scene is amazing.
- Oh, and for the museum scene to be amazing.
Perhaps there is a pattern to be sensed here. Onto the episode!
The Flashback Before The Flashbacks
Before viewers got another chance to see Pedro Pascal portray Joel in “The Last of Us,” the series provided glimpses into his character’s past, featuring Tony Dalton as his father, “J. Miller.

It’s obvious that Joel had a harsh and abusive childhood. As for Dalton, his charm is so strong that it almost makes me doubt the scene. He portrays a character who, on one hand, Joel might perceive as a potential threat to commit violence over minor offenses, but on the other hand, he could also be someone who shares a beer and gives deep insights shortly after.
- “I’m doing a little better than my father did. And you know, when it’s your turn, I hope you do a little better than me.” – Joel’s Abusive But Also Weirdly Practical Dad
It’s a good line. It’s a good line.
Joel And Ellie In The Opening Credits Again

I love that this episode reverted back to a pair of survivors in the opening credits.
