The Last of Us Season 2 Finale Viewership Was Roughly Half of Season 1 Finale

The seventh and concluding episode of Season 2 for “The Last of Us” aired on HBO Max (or whatever its current name is) this past Sunday, receiving a mix of positive and negative feedback from both critics and viewers. Interestingly, these varying opinions seem to be mirrored in the show’s viewership statistics as well.

According to Variety’s reports, the final episode of The Last of Us Season 2 garnered 3.7 million viewers across various platforms, marking a 55% decrease compared to the 8.2 million viewers it attracted with its Season 1 finale in 2023. In contrast, the series’ second season premiere back in April boasted 5.3 million viewers on its first day, which represented a 10% rise from the viewership of the Season 1 finale.

It’s official: The Third Season of The Last of Us is on its way! The production team has given the go-ahead for this new installment, and it will continue to bring the story from 2020’s The Last of Us Part 2 to life. However, a specific release date for the show has yet to be announced.
