Already off to quite the start, The Last of Us season 2 is back and better than ever.
Before the second season even aired, the popular HBO series was already renewed for a third season. Co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin remarked about the announcement, “Our aim with season 2 was to create something we could be proud of.
The outcomes surpassed not only our high expectations but even our most optimistic aspirations, primarily due to our persistent partnership with HBO and the exceptional efforts of our top-tier team of actors and technicians.
“We look forward to continuing the story of The Last of Us with season 3.”
The fresh season unfolds five years following the events of the first, showing a significant divide between Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal). It’s evident that Joel is grappling with the recollections of his past as they work towards forging a new existence together.
There are still many exciting developments ahead for the upcoming series installments, as they introduce fresh characters such as Young Mazino, Kaitlyn Dever, Tati Gabrielle, and others who will be joining the narrative in the post-apocalyptic world.

How many episodes of The Last of Us season 2 are there?
There are seven episodes of The Last of Us season 2 in total.
As a dedicated movie buff, I can’t help but acknowledge that the upcoming season has fewer episodes compared to the previous one, which boasted an impressive nine.
In an earlier conversation with Deadline, co-showrunner Craig Mazin explained their reasoning for reducing the number of episodes in the second season: “The story content from Part II of the game is significantly more than what was in the first game, so we had to determine a way to tell that expansive story over multiple seasons from the beginning.
In that action, you’re seeking logical pauses or transition points, and this particular year, the national divide seemed to occur around the seventh episode.
