During Sony’s presentation at CES 2025, there was an unexpected reveal about HBO’s show “The Last of Us” – a release window for Season 2 has been set! In addition to other game adaptations and sequels unveiled during the event, Sony confirmed that “The Last of Us” Season 2 is slated for April 2025. This may come as a pleasant surprise to many fans, considering there was some doubt about when exactly Season 2 would be released. No specific day in April has been specified yet, but if the release follows the pattern set by Season 1, new episodes will be released on a weekly basis.

Filming for The Last of Us Season 2 concluded in August 2024, and several characters from The Last of Us Part 2 have been cast in different roles. With the initial teaser trailer now unveiled, further updates and sneak peeks are expected leading up to the April release of Season 2.
For Season 2 of The Last of Us on HBO, we haven’t received an official episode count yet, but considering there were nine episodes in Season 1, it’s reasonable to anticipate that the number might be similar. However, Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us, hinted that the storyline for The Last of Us Part 2 would extend beyond a single season, suggesting that the second season may not cover the entire sequel game’s narrative.
The Last of Us Season 2 will release on Max in April.
