Viewers can look forward to an exciting surprise this April since the second season of “The Last of Us” will reportedly unveil a more intelligent form of the infected, as suggested by its creator, Neil Druckmann.
The second installment of HBO’s hit post-apocalyptic drama series will air on April 13, 2025, two years following its successful first season launch. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey hinted at a “difficult” storyline for Season 2, and creators Craig Mazin (showrunner) and Druckmann (The Last Of Us creator) have now disclosed information about a fresh type of infected creature.
What do we know about The Last of Us Season 2’s new infected type?
Mazin advised viewers to prepare themselves, since Season 2 will feature “stalkers” and sophisticated infected individuals.
Mazin shared with Empire: “I’ll only mention that for those eager to witness more of the contaminated… Get ready!” Druckmann added: “You’ll experience a unique development of this contagion. It has preserved certain areas of their brain, making them more intelligent. They coordinate, conceal themselves, and perform actions we’ve never seen any other infected do on this series.
The television series “The Last of Us” tells the story of an unlikely friendship that forms between two strangers, Joel (played by Pascal) and Ellie (portrayed by Ramsey), as they navigate a world overrun by fungal-infected creatures while striving for survival. In the upcoming Season 2, both Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley will reprise their roles as Joel’s younger brother Tommy and Maria, respectively.
The main actors from Season 1 will be joined by newcomers to ‘The Last of Us’ – Kaitlyn Dever (as Abby), Gabriel Luna (Young Mazino as Jesse), Isabela Merced (as Dina), Danny Ramirez (as Manny), Ariela Barer (as Mel), Tati Gabrielle (as Nora), Jeffrey Wright (as Isaac Dixon), and Catherine O’Hara in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
Completing the ensemble for Season 2 are Alanna Ubach (from Euphoria), Ben Ahlers (The Gilded Age), Joe Pantoliano (famous from The Sopranos), Hettienne Park (known for Hannibal), Robert John Burke (Gossip Girl), and Noah Lamanna (starring in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).
