The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 star: “We’re going to break your hearts”

As a dedicated fan who has journeyed through the thrilling world of Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina, I eagerly anticipate the emotional rollercoaster that awaits us in season 3. With its gripping previews hinting at heart-wrenching moments, ominous events, and a focus on Vax’ildan’s role as the Matron of Raven’s champion, it promises to be a season filled with tears and tension.

As a passionate film enthusiast and avid fan of Critical Role’s D&D campaigns, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of diving into the third season of The Legend of Vox Machina, now streaming on Prime Video. This animated series has certainly not shied away from tugging at our heartstrings throughout its first two seasons, but it seems that this time around, it’s ready to delve even deeper into the complexities of the characters and the intricate world they inhabit. I, for one, can hardly wait!

In summary, the opening sequence for season 3 hints at foreboding occurrences, subtly emphasizing Vax’ildan’s character as the Matron of Ravens’ chosen one. Keyleth kneels before a grave, accompanied by Grog and Jarret carrying a coffin, while the group embarks on a journey to actual Hell, foreshadowing the dark events to come.

As a devoted fan, I’ll tiptoe around revealing spoilers like Vax dances around secrets, but let me assure you, taking on Umbrasyl at the end of season 2 was no easy feat! The journey ahead in season 3 promises to be costly for every step we’re about to take through this chapter of our story.

Prepare your hearts, for we’re about to shatter them – that’s the purpose of our arrival.

As a film enthusiast, I’d say when discussing Vax’s character development in season 3, it’s like he walked onto a live mine and was instantly thrown into a state of panic at the start. This panic seems to influence his relationship with the Matron, which subtly changes episode by episode throughout the season, and even more so as each new season unfolds.

Indeed, he’s in a completely different situation now compared to when he initially found himself in this predicament. By the conclusion, he’ll find himself in an entirely new location.

By the finale of season 2, Vax transitioned from initially being apprehensive about his position as Raven’s champion’s Matron, to fully accepting and thriving in this role. This transformation occurred once he recognized its significance and scope, which surpassed his own individual importance.

Instead of merely safeguarding his sister as before, he stands as a beacon of fate, guarding the sacred bond between life and death itself. As a champion, he unites not only Vox Machina but also the people of Exandria in their relentless struggle to vanquish Thordak (Lance Reddick) and his Chroma Conclave once and for all.

We’re unsure if it will be sufficient to rescue his friends and limit the emotional harm, so we’ll simply have to observe and find out over time.

Bring on season 3 and all of its heartbreak!

The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 will be released on Thursday 3rd October 2024.
