The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Sells Over 200,000 Units on Japanese Debut

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Sells Over 200,000 Units on Japanese Debut

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of gaming since the days of NES, I can confidently say that the current state of the industry is nothing short of remarkable. The latest sales charts from Japan, featuring titles like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria, are a testament to the enduring appeal of classic franchises and the allure of new ones.

The newest installment in the “Legend of Zelda” series, titled “Echoes of Wisdom,” has claimed the number one spot on Famitsu’s most recent charts for weekly physical software sales in Japan. This action-adventure game made a strong debut atop the charts with over 200,000 units sold in its first week in the region. In contrast, the previous significant top-down “Zelda” release, which was the remake of “The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening,” from 2019, managed to sell more than 140,000 physical copies in Japan during its launch.

Besides Zelda, another game making waves in the charts is The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria. Surprisingly, this title holds two positions in the top 10 – the PS5 version (with over 29,000 units sold) ranks second, while its PS4 counterpart (over 17,000 units sold) takes third place. The combined sales exceed 47,000 units. On the other hand, EA Sports FC 25 appears in various chart positions as well, securing the No. 4 spot on Switch, No. 5 on PS5, and No. 7 on PS4. With sales of over 32,000 units across all platforms, it’s a strong contender in the gaming world.

In terms of hardware sales, it’s no surprise that the Nintendo Switch was the top-selling console in Japan last week, with close to 74,000 units being sold thanks to the release of Zelda. The PlayStation 5 came in second place, selling over 10,000 units during the same period.

Below, you’ll find the complete hardware and software sales charts for Japan, which cover the period up until September 29.
