As a seasoned Zelda fan who has been following this iconic series since its humble beginnings on my old NES, I must say that the latest addition to the franchise, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, has certainly lived up to my expectations. Having waited patiently for five long days, it was a delight to witness this brand-new title surpassing even the impressive sales figures of its predecessor, Link’s Awakening, in such a short span of time.
In the realm of Nintendo’s best-selling Switch games, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” continue to shine. However, the newest addition to the franchise, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” is making a powerful debut. The company reported in its Q2 financial results for fiscal year 2025 that as of September 30th, it had sold 2.58 million units of this game.
In five short days following its launch on September 26th for the Nintendo Switch, the top-down action adventure has managed to accumulate this total number of sales. To put that into perspective, consider The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which sold a remarkable 3.13 million units in only ten days; however, it’s important to note that Link’s Awakening is a remake, whereas Echoes of Wisdom is an entirely new game title.
The game’s achievement might not come as a shock since it dominated Japanese sales charts during its first week, selling 200,121 units. You can find our opinions on this title in the linked article – we awarded it a high rating of nine out of ten, commending the imaginative world design, engaging gameplay, and dungeons while pointing out areas for improvement such as performance and combat.
