Nintendo and Sony Pictures initially planned to launch their live-action movie adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda” in March 2027. However, a fresh release date has been unveiled, pushing the anticipated debut back by approximately six weeks.
On Twitter, Nintendo posted a statement from Shigeru Miyamoto, who is involved in the production of the Zelda film, stating that the film’s release date has been pushed back from March 26, 2027 to May 7, 2027, due to certain production issues.
Miyamoto mentioned that the release date will be pushed back a bit from what was initially planned, in order to spend more time perfecting the movie.
The upcoming film adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda” is slated to be helmed by Wes Bell, who is renowned for directing “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and the “Maze Runner” series. It’s been reported that Nintendo and Sony Pictures are planning a trilogy of movies, which will allegedly be filmed simultaneously in New Zealand. For more details, check it out here.
Miyamoto here! Due to production necessities, we’re shifting the release date of the live-action movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. This means a slight delay from our initial schedule, but we’re using this extra time to ensure the film lives up to its full potential.
