As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Middle-earth, I must say I’m intrigued by the upcoming second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” While the first season garnered a divided response from fans and critics alike, it’s hard not to be drawn back into this richly crafted world.
In a twist, the hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is gearing up for its second season this month, following a first season that sparked varied opinions from both critics and viewers. The show has been a target of review bombing, resulting in a disappointing audience rating of 38% on Rotten Tomatoes – a stark contrast to the series’ impressive critic score of 83%. Interestingly, the show has received mixed responses even from stars of Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. While Billy Boyd (Peregrin “Pippin” Took) expressed his liking for the series, Bernard Hill (King Théoden) described it as a money-making venture. The latest actor from the “Lord of the Rings” cast to voice his thoughts is Hugo Weaving (Elrond), who has stated that he has no intention of watching the show.
In a conversation directed towards Robert Aramayo, who portrays Elrond in the series, Weaving stated, “I haven’t had the chance to see you, and I apologize. Frankly, I’ve spent enough time in Middle-earth, and I’m not keen on returning there at the moment. However, I adore New Zealand, as I recently visited it again.”
As a devoted admirer, I must confess that despite investing extensive hours into specific projects, the epic scale of this film or its towering franchise doesn’t quite resonate with me on the same level as it does for fellow fans. To put it humorously, it’s not the role that immediately springs to mind when I think about legendary performances in my head. Now, I must extend my sincere apologies to Robert, but I haven’t had the pleasure of watching it yet. I have no doubt he delivers an outstanding performance.
What Is The Rings of Power Season 2 About?
According to Season 2 director Charlotte Brändström, who spoke with MovieZine earlier this year, here’s what you can expect: the new season will be darker, edgier, and more focused on character development. She’s confident that it will be a great season, as she’s seen all the episodes and thinks they’ve made it grittier and authentic. There are also some surprising twists and turns in store for viewers.
The Rings of Power cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz C?rdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
I’m excitedly counting down the days until I can dive back into Middle-earth! The second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set to air on Amazon Prime Video on August 29th. Can’t wait to see what adventures await us all!
