The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 Image Reveals Another Ringbearer

As a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth and the upcoming series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” I am beyond excited for the second season, which is just around the corner. One of the new characters that has caught my attention is Cirdan the Shipwright, played by the brilliant Ben Daniels.

In approximately a month, the second installment of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Amazon Prime Video is set to debut. There’s been plenty of intrigue surrounding the upcoming season, with hints at Sauron’s evil machinations and the anticipation of larger-than-life battles. Recently, Entertainment Weekly released a new image featuring Cirdan the Shipwright, portrayed by Ben Daniels from “The Crown.” This venerable elf is not only an accomplished shipbuilder but also a repository of knowledge and another ringbearer in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic universe.

J.D. Payne, one of the co-showrunners, revealed to EW that Ben Daniels gracefully takes on the role of C?rdan. As a classically educated British thespian, he infuses the character with profound wisdom and solemnity.

I was equally captivated by his wit and charm in “The Crown,” and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with him as co-showrunners.

Who Is C?rdan the Shipwright?

In the intricate universe of J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium, Cirdan holds a distinguished position. He is renowned as an accomplished shipbuilder and governs the Grey Havens, which is situated in the Lindon region. The Grey Havens serves as a crucial portal for elves who choose to leave Middle-earth behind and return to the eternal lands of Valinor in the Undying Lands. In the final chapter of “The Lord of the Rings” titled “The Grey Havens,” we witness Frodo Baggins and other ring-bearers, including Cirdan, embarking on their journey out of Middle-earth as the Third Age comes to an end.

What Is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 About?

According to Season 2 director Charlotte Brändström, who spoke with MovieZine earlier this year, the upcoming season will be darker and more focused on character development. She assures us that there are some intriguing episodes ahead, which she had the opportunity to review over Christmas. The team aimed to make it as raw and genuine as possible, and there are indeed some unexpected plot twists in store.

In the ensemble cast of “The Rings of Power,” we find actors such as Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz C?rdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani. However, it’s worth noting that Nazanin Boniadi, who portrayed the healer Bronwyn in season 1, will no longer be part of the project as she has left acting.

I’m thrilled to share that the anticipated second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is set to grace our screens on Amazon Prime Video starting August 29th. Stay tuned for more exhilarating adventures in Middle-earth!
