183 years prior to the epic tales of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, I delve into the gripping prequel, “The War of the Rohirrim: The Saga of Helm Hammerhand.” This film unravels the destiny of the renowned King of Rohan, Helm. When the cunning and merciless Dunlending lord, Wulf, orchestrates a surprise assault in search of vengeance for his late father, Helm and his people are thrust into a precarious last stand within the formidable fortress of Hornburg – a name later synonymous with Helm’s Deep.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama (“Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex” TV series), the distinguished voice actors are steered by Brian Cox (“Succession”), playing the powerful King Helm Hammerhand of Rohan; Gaia Wise as his daughter, Héra; and Luke Pasqualino as Wulf.
