The Magic Faraway Tree – FIRST LOOK PHOTO

As a long-time fan of Enid Blyton’s works and a connoisseur of children’s literature adaptations, I must say that The Magic Faraway Tree first look photo has stirred a whirlwind of excitement within me! With a stellar cast including Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, and Sir Lenny Henry, among others, this film promises to be a magical journey that will transport us back to the enchanting world of Blyton.

Check out this exclusive sneak peek at The Enchanted Faraway Tree, inspired by the beloved children’s book series. In this tale, the Thompson siblings – Polly, Tim, Beth, Joe, and Fran – are compelled to move to a secluded corner of England. It is there that they stumble upon a mystical tree teeming with extraordinary and quirky inhabitants.

The movie is helmed by director Ben Gregor, who has previously worked on shows like Britannia, Cuckoo, Black Ops, and Fatherhood, and won an BAFTA Award for his work on films such as Wonka and Paddington 2.

In this production, the renowned actors Andrew Garfield (known for movies like ‘tick, tick… BOOM!’, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’) and Claire Foy (famous for ‘All of Us Strangers’ and ‘Women Talking’), will take on the roles of Tim and Polly respectively. The young Thompson siblings will be portrayed by newcomers Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon, and Phoenix Laroche. These fresh faces have previously appeared in shows like ITV’s ‘Tom Jones’, RSC’s ‘Macbeth’, ‘Cruella’, ‘One Day’, ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’, and ‘Trying’. A sneak peek of the cast can be seen in this first look photo from The Magic Faraway Tree.

The characters inhabiting the tree, known for whisking visitors away to magical distant realms, will be portrayed by Nicola Coughlan (famous for her roles in Bridgerton and Derry Girls), taking on the role of the adored woodland fairy Silky; Nonso Anozie (recognized from Sweet Tooth and Ted Lasso) as the self-proclaimed leader Moonface; Jessica Gunning (known for Baby Reindeer and The Outlaws) as Dame Washalot; and Dustin Demri-Burns (well-known for Slow Horses and The Great) as Saucepan Man.

Completing our ensemble of enchanted woodland characters will be Mark Heap (known for his roles in “Friday Night Dinner” and “The School for Good and Evil”) as Mr. Oom Boom Boom, Oliver Chris (recognized from “Trying” and “My Lady Jane”) as Mr. Watzisname, and Hiran Abeysekera (famous for “The Life of Pi,” “The Father and the Assassin”) as the Angry Pixie. The esteemed British actors Sir Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale will bring to life a trio of mystical sages from the Land of Know-Alls. Joining the cast is Rebecca Ferguson (recognizable from “Dune,” “Mission Impossible,” “Silo,” and “The Greatest Showman”), who will portray Dame Snap, one of Blyton’s most feared villains, the intimidating headmistress in this story.

In this adaptation, Jennifer Saunders portrays the stern grandmother character, while Pippa Bennett-Warner assumes the role of Hannah, her helpful and supportive assistant. [Absolutely Fabulous, Shrek 2] and [Gangs of London, See How They Run, Chloe] are some of their previous works.

Filming taking place on location across the South of England and at Shinfield Studios, Reading.
