The Mandalorian and Grogu to Fly into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Ride

The Mandalorian and Grogu to Fly into Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Ride

As a lifelong Star Wars fan who’s been through the highs and lows of this galaxy far, far away, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest development at Galaxy’s Edge! The announcement that The Mandalorian and Grogu will be starring in a brand-new story on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride is like a dream come true.

The swiftest spaceship with a checkered past, the Millennium Falcon, is receiving an improvement. Disney revealed at D23 that characters from “The Mandalorian” and Grogu will be joining the Smugglers Run ride in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – a motion simulator experience where visitors can pilot the iconic Corellian light freighter. Since a film featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu is planned for release on the big screen in 2026, fans can expect these characters to star in a fresh tale exclusive to both Star Wars-themed parks in California and Florida.

At the D23 event in 2024, Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni expressed his enthusiasm on stage with Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro about the intersection of storytelling and innovation being key at Lucasfilm. He envisioned a future where we could embark on exhilarating, potentially perilous adventures alongside Mando and Grogu.

In partnership with Epic Games, Disney is utilizing the Unreal Engine by Epic, the same technology that builds virtual sets for the TV series “The Mandalorian”, to develop enhanced computer-animated ride scenes.

Ever since it debuted at both Disneyland park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019, the storyline of this ride has starred space pirate Hondo Ohnaka. He assigns riders on an interactive smuggling adventure aboard a ship that was once piloted by Han Solo.

2022 saw the introduction of The Mandalorian and Grogu as wandering characters in a Star Tours – The Adventures Continue simulator ride, where they’ve remained ever since. It was in 2024 that Disney Experiences incorporated characters and settings from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Andor into the attraction, enhancing it with these beloved figures.

Jon Favreau, the brain behind and executive producer of the initial live-action “Star Wars” series, is currently penning, directing, and producing the feature film version of “The Mandalorian.” Alongside him in the production role are Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm. Although specifics about the plot are being tightly guarded, a recently unveiled teaser trailer at D23 offers glimpses of the Mandalorian and his trainee maneuvering an AT-ST Walker to dodge blaster fire from AT-ATs, an interaction with the rebel Zeb, and Grogu (previously seen in 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) in a pod surrounded by tiny Anzellans.

In May 2026, when the movie is released in theaters, you can expect The Mandalorian and Grogu to team up for a ride on the Millennium Falcon, as depicted in Smugglers Run. Keep an eye on egmr.ru for updates straight from D23 2024.
