As an ardent fan of anime and fast food, I must say that this collaboration between McDonald’s and Neon Genesis Evangelion is nothing short of mind-blowing! Growing up with the iconic series and relishing every bite of McDonald’s, I never thought I would see these two worlds merge. It’s a dream come true for many fans like me who have been eagerly waiting for such a crossover.

Previously, McDonald’s collaborated with characters from Jujutsu Tech, Dragon Ball Z’s Z-Fighters, Straw Hat Pirates of the Grand Line, and numerous anime figures. There have been whispers about a possible alliance between McDonald’s and the young pilots of NERV. Many fans pondered over what a McDonald’s and Neon Genesis Evangelion collaboration might entail. Now, fans can stop guessing as McDonald’s has officially announced that it is indeed partnering with NERV in Japan, and they have even developed unique toys that blend together in an unprecedented way.

In recent times, McDonald’s has been deeply involved with the anime scene, and they recently took things a step further. They collaborated with artist Acky Bright to create an entirely new anime universe called “WcDonald’s”. This fresh narrative is filled with distinctive characters. Alongside merchandise introduced in their restaurants, McDonald’s partnered with Studio Pierrot, renowned for producing series like Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Black Clover, to develop animated shorts that boosted the new universe. Although the collaboration between this series and North America isn’t confirmed yet, you can still take a look at the partnership that is offering EVA units transformable into McDonald’s goods, appealing to anime enthusiasts. Despite Neon Genesis Evangelion being an adult-oriented show, McDonald’s has ventured into creating these toys. Interestingly, obtaining these toys isn’t as straightforward as just visiting your local McDonald’s restaurant.

Between December 12th and January 10th, fans of Evangelion can enter a lottery via the McDonald’s app to win these toys. The characters, modeled after the EVA units operated by Shinji, Asuka, and Rei, are expected to be priced around $25 USD each. This collaboration between Hideaki Anno’s anime franchise and McDonald’s demonstrates just how enduring the popularity of the original television series remains.
