“Over the past two years, I’ve come to cherish my SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless as my daily driver keyboard – it’s been a constant companion through countless words, stories, and late-night coding sessions.
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Wireless gaming peripheral was initially too pricey for many users, overshadowed by its high cost despite the presence of flashy RGB lighting and extra features. However, its recent price drop to $128.99 at Best Buy makes it a more reasonable recommendation now.
Since the moment I opened its box, this keyboard has been a constant companion on my desk, moving aside only briefly to accommodate other product reviews. However, it always found its way back. The truth is, I’ve grown quite fond of this keyboard, and considering its cost, I believe many others will feel the same.
Still my daily keyboard over two years later
To put it simply, I’ve found that the SteelSeries GG companion app isn’t necessary for me anymore as I use my Apex Pro Mini more for everyday writing rather than intense gaming sessions.
If I were to do so, I could always create a macro by simply pressing and holding the SteelSeries logo key along with ‘X’. This action will register a series of keystrokes for later use.
It might have been handy for typing “good game, well played” if I weren’t playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 exclusively on Xbox and acting like an antisocial hermit in multiplayer.
Additionally, I have the ability to cycle through some RGB lighting effects using the SteelSeries logo key combined with ‘Z’. For extra vibrant rainbow displays, this should suffice. If I desire advanced customization options in the future, I can always install the official app.
Fundamentally, I’m pointing out that the Apex Pro Mini Wireless keyboard is a practical gaming device that performs adequately without requiring constant use of a desktop application for support. However, advanced customization choices are always accessible whenever needed. You’ll need the GG app if you wish to explore the dual-binding feature, which allows two options per key based on how deeply it’s pressed.
