The Minecraft Movie Merch: Terrifying Toys and One Adorable Plush to Buy

On April 4, 2025, the long-awaited Minecraft Movie finally hits theaters, and along with it comes an array of merchandise that could potentially drive your kids to nag you nonstop. However, it’s important to note that these toys might appeal to them as long as they don’t induce nightmares!

Now, a variety of Minecraft Movie-related items are available on Amazon, and while some pieces may resonate with collectors, the majority of the products could be considered an acquired taste.

The Minecraft Movie toys are really disappointing

Initially, when the first trailer for the Minecraft movie was released, I joined a group of fans criticizing it as an unfaithful adaptation of one of our favorite family games.
However, the second trailer changed my perspective somewhat. It seemed enjoyable enough to make me hopeful that the film might be successful.
Of course, this led me to ponder about the upcoming merchandise and look forward to adding more items to my son’s Minecraft collection. However, after checking out the toy lineup, I feel quite confident that my money will remain safe.
Indeed, the figurines are unique compared to previous merchandise we have seen.

Instead of maintaining the blocky appeal of the game, they’ve added “lifelike” elements that are downright unnerving at best.

For example, Steve’s figurine resembles Jack Black’s portrayal of the character, but not so much like Jack Black himself if I’m being honest.

As for Jack Black, his portrayal of Steve in the trailers is essentially Jack Black playing… well, himself in a blue t-shirt. It’s just more of Jack Black being Jack Black.

To be clear, the line “I’ve always longed for the mines” was side-splittingly funny and convinced me of his performance, but my child doesn’t recognize Jack Black and wants the Steve figure he recognizes from the game instead.

However, adult fans will likely appreciate the collectible value of a Jack Black Steve action figure, and to be fair, the Jack Black Pez dispenser is quite cool. Yet, for younger fans, pictures of kids happily playing with their adult figurine aren’t doing much to convince me.

It’s not all bad and I did purchase one thing

Among the unusual assortment, you’ll find a few intriguing items, including a plush toy of my son’s favorite Minecraft creature – the wolf.

The Minecraft Movie wolf plush is available in two types: standard and interactive. The interactive version named ‘Dennis’ can growl and bark, transitioning between wild and tame modes, but it costs a substantial $63 and isn’t yet available for pre-order in the U.S.

On the other hand, the basic plush, retailing at a much more affordable $10, is fortunately already on sale in the UK, and I’ve even managed to get one. Here’s hoping it becomes available in the U.S. soon.

An interesting point to note is the Creeper plush toy, with its unique furry feel that differs slightly from what we know but still maintains a classic charm for younger fans. It surpasses the Creeper action figure, which oddly resembles an angry, melted candle.

Additionally, don’t forget to check out these cool Lego sets priced at $49.99 on Amazon. If your child (or you) are Lego enthusiasts, they won’t seem too shabby.

There’s cursed Minecraft Movie popcorn buckets too!

1. The Creeper popcorn containers and cups are quite trendy, however, the pink sheep ‘baah-ket’ is definitely not something you’d want to encounter in the dark. These items were announced to be available at Regal Cinemas, but they’re likely to be found in most movie theaters showing the film.

2. Advance ticket booking for Minecraft Movie at Regal Cinemas grants access to a complimentary in-game jetpack. To secure these goodies, visit Fandango.com and purchase your tickets for ‘A Minecraft Movie’.

A mix of Minecraft emotions

The merchandise for the upcoming Minecraft Movie offers an assortment, some of which have a slightly creepy resemblance to our beloved creatures from the game, yet I’m genuinely thrilled about the film’s release in cinemas.

My children, aged 16 and 4, are both avid fans of Minecraft. It’s remarkable how this game manages to connect them despite their age difference, encouraging them to play together.

My oldest son and I were fortunate enough to attend MineCon in London back in 2015, an experience we still cherish. Now, my younger son is deep into his own Minecraft phase, experiencing the same excitement but with fewer real-life events to look forward to—at least here in the UK for now.

The transformation is imminent as new Minecraft-themed amusement parks are scheduled to open and the Minecraft Experience looks set for expansion. This means younger fans, such as my children, will soon have more than just the Minecraft marketplace or spending money on Minecoins to bond with this game. It’s heartwarming to envision a new wave of players creating unique memories connected to this game through these upcoming projects and the upcoming movie release.

As previously mentioned, I’m going to purchase the cute wolf plush toy, and I’m eagerly anticipating that the upcoming movie, set to premiere in theaters on April 4, will delight us with its surprises.
