The NVIDIA app represents the evolution of the previous GeForce Experience, but despite undergoing a prolonged beta testing phase, it appears that some issues persist according to an examination conducted by our friends at Tom’s Hardware.
During their tests, it was discovered that operating the NVIDIA app during gameplay may cause a considerable drop in performance.
Given the information we’ve found online, it seems more beneficial to avoid using the Nvidia App temporarily. Reports suggest that this application may negatively impact gaming performance, causing a drop in frame rates by as much as 15% in certain instances.
It isn’t a flat drop across the board, nothing in PC gaming is ever that black and white. But in the Tom’s Hardware testing of a variety of games, it seemed that Assassin’s Creed: Mirage was the worst affected on their test system using the RTX 4060.
Titles like “Black Myth: Wukong” and “Flight Simulator 2024” showed comparable performance when played at 1080p resolution with medium settings. This setting appears to be the optimal choice for many users who will likely be using this graphics card for gaming.
Indeed, it’s only a single card and a limited set of games we’re discussing here, yet the findings align with the general consensus in the broader online community. The old GeForce Experience application didn’t exactly earn rave reviews, but it’s worth noting that there weren’t many complaints about it negatively impacting gameplay.
It seems that the NVIDIA application is intended to enhance gaming experiences, but it currently appears to be having the opposite effect. If you’re experiencing similar issues, the most effective solution at this moment would be to uninstall the app and then reinstall the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.
