Steve Carell not appearing in The Office reboot

The fresh interpretation of Peacock’s version of “The Office” introduces a new set of characters, leading some to speculate if any of the original cast members such as Steve Carell might make a guest appearance. Nevertheless, Carell himself has clarified that while he plans on watching, he won’t be making an appearance in it.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of his latest film, IF (directed by his former Office colleague, John Krasinski), Carell stated that he will be observing but not physically attending. He explained that it’s a fresh development and there isn’t really any need for his character to make an appearance in something like that.

He expressed his enthusiasm, saying it seems like a fantastic concept. The storyline — about a struggling newspaper business — caught his interest. Plus, he had the pleasure of working with Domhnall Gleeson, one of the main actors, whom he collaborated with on “The Patient” and is both exceptionally talented and genuinely kind. Therefore, he’s optimistic that it will turn out well.

What is Peacock’s The Office spinoff about?

As a longtime fan of “The Office,” I was thrilled when I heard about the potential spinoff titled “The Paper.” Having worked for years at a small-town newspaper, I could immediately relate to the premise of the show. The idea of a documentary crew searching for a new subject and stumbling upon a struggling historic Midwestern newspaper resonated with my own experiences in the industry.

Back in May, it was officially announced that Peacock greenlit a spin-off of The Office – I can’t wait to dive into this new world! I’m thrilled to know that it’s being executive produced by the likes of Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (previously known as Reveille). These talented minds will surely bring something fresh yet familiar to this beloved series.
