This year’s official manga version of the popular RPG game Metaphor: ReFantazio has been released, and surprisingly, the first chapter strays from the game’s original narrative. As a result, it offers a captivating read even for those who are already familiar with the source material.
You can currently access and read the opening 60 pages of this manga for free, in English, on both the Shueisha Manga Plus website and app. Here’s a quick link to get you started: [Shueisha Manga Plus Link]
Composed by artist Yoichi Amano, known for creating multiple manga series such as the adaptation of Dragon Quest Treasures, this release is visually appealing, brimming with allure and personality.
However, once more, it’s the tale that might surprise fans of Metaphor. The main narrative remains consistent, as the character, known as Will in the comic, continues his quest to find allies of the cursed prince, eventually arriving at the city of Grand Trad.
Initially, bandits attack Will and his fairy friend Gallica during their desert journey. Instead of Hulkenberg, it’s Strohl who comes to their aid. Later, Strohl, not Hulkenberg, makes an appearance in Grand Trad itself, as he embarks on a mission to rescue Maria who has been taken captive.
It seems they are making efforts to simplify the sequence of events; Will and Strohl never enlist in the army, engage in a critical battle against humans, or activate their Archetype abilities. Instead, following their rescue of Maria, they encounter Grius who shares his plot to assassinate Louis.
