The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x belongs to the newest lineup of laptops running Windows on ARM processors, specifically the Qualcomm Snapdragon X series. Instead of Intel or AMD chips, it’s powered by these high-performance Qualcomm processors. By doing so, it trades some legacy compatibility for unprecedented efficiency, offering exceptional battery life lasting throughout the day without compromising its sleek and lightweight design.
The outcome: Lenovo created a laptop with a 14.5-inch screen, measuring less than 13mm in thickness, and tipping the scales at under three pounds. Remarkably, it can last over 12 hours on a single charge while being used. This device handles almost all common laptop tasks flawlessly, and many of the tasks it can’t handle natively can be run through the upgraded Microsoft Prism emulation layer with minimal loss in performance. It’s worth noting that there are some older programs and applications that may not work seamlessly with these Windows on Arm (WoA) laptops, but users who require those specific apps are well aware of this fact.

However, it’s important to note that this doesn’t imply it’s flawless – for instance, the Dolby Atmos speakers are merely acceptable, and the design, while stunning, is prone to collecting fingerprints. This laptop might well be one of the top-tier Copilot+ PCs, but as for Copilot+ PCs in general, their Neural Processing Units (NPUs) aren’t yet advanced enough to make the “AI PC” label truly captivating.
Nothing about its appearance or performance fails to make this laptop one of my top favorites. It boasts an attractive design, runs smoothly, is surprisingly thin and light, has incredible battery life that seems endless, and the latest Windows on ARM laptops (including this model) have progressed significantly in a short span of time. In fact, I find it difficult to suggest Intel or AMD laptops to most people over a WoA device if the latter would suit them better. The Yoga Slim 7x is so impressive that I truly, genuinely, hope Lenovo launches a Yoga Slim 9x in the future with an advanced haptic touchpad, more premium construction, and cellular connectivity.

Most of the apps and software that these laptops can’t run natively can be emulated with minimal loss in performance. However, it’s crucial to note that there are certain applications like specific VPNs, games, and legacy programs that these laptops currently cannot handle. It would be prudent to conduct some investigation on the specific apps you require before making a purchase decision to ensure compatibility.
