It’s refreshing to observe games like Red Barrels’ “The Outlast Trials” continuing to prosper amidst the closure of numerous multiplayer-centric live-service titles. The creators have announced plans for future content, such as special events, cosmetics, game modes, and additional features. Moreover, they recently celebrated a significant achievement of three million players joining their gaming community.
In May 2023, The Outlast Trials went into early access and sold more than half a million copies during its initial release week. By July, it surpassed one million sales, reaching two million by April 2024. The developer also confirmed that over 1.2 million players had completed the main game, referred to as being “Reborn.
Offering compatibility across Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, The Outlast Trials introduces a new cooperative gameplay experience, departing from its predecessors. In this installment, players become test subjects for the Murkoff Corporation’s experiments, navigating lethal trials (often involving deranged killers) and ultimately aiming to break free.
