As a seasoned gamer who’s had his fair share of virtual crime-fighting escapades, I must say that The Penguin has certainly upped the ante in the Gotham City underworld. The first episode, “After Hours,” was a rollercoaster ride, to say the least, with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.
In this reinterpretation, I’ll try to make it more conversational and straightforward:
An Unexpected Twist
Following a moment when the Riddler drew attention to himself, Oz regained control and made his way to Carmine Falcone’s residence, intending to burglarize a hidden vault within the house. He grabbed a stack of compromising documents but was soon confronted by Carmine’s son, Alberto Falcone, who had just walked in on Oz in the act of stealing from his late father.
Why It Matters
Here are two significant aspects that make this development noteworthy, one being its influence on the series and the other reshaping certain fan theories due to the comics. In relation to the show, the consequences are apparent and quite substantial. With Carmine’s demise, Alberto rose as the leader of the Falcone crime family. However, Oz has just taken the life of the new organized crime boss in Gotham City – a move that carries heavy weight, and if word gets out that he was responsible, Oz may soon meet his end.
The Long Halloween and Dark Victory
In the realm of comics, Alberto is deeply associated with the iconic Batman stories “The Long Halloween” by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, along with its sequel “Dark Victory.” In these narratives, Carmine survives, while Alberto assumes the role of the enigmatic killer known as Holiday, systematically eliminating members from the Falcone and Maroni crime families.
