In the TV series “The Penguin,” Colin Farrell’s full-body prosthesis, which he wore, seemed to include a replica of male genitalia. In a recent promotional video, Farrell humorously referred to it as his “Penguin pecker” and shared that underneath those tuxedos, he had a body designed with realistic anatomy. Known for his Academy Award-nominated roles, Farrell portrays “Oz Cobb,” a more ruthless and brutal version of the comic book villain Oswald Cobblepot, who is usually depicted as less violent in adaptations outside of comics. Penguin showrunner/lead writer Lauren LeFranc referenced Rosemary Kennedy, the hidden Kennedy family member, who was institutionalized in an asylum. It’s debatable whether she had a mental illness or merely performed actions deemed inappropriate by the Kennedys, causing embarrassment. She underwent a lobotomy, making her story very sad. This thought crossed LeFranc’s mind when considering Carmine and Sofia; what if Sofia was originally from Arkham State Hospital? Did she rightfully belong there?
Beginning this coming Thursday, September 19th, the series titled “The Penguin,” featuring Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, James Madio, Scott Cohen, Michael Zegen, Carmen Ejogo, and Theo Rossi, will make its debut on both HBO and Max. From the 19th onwards, it will air every Thursday, but from the second episode onward, starting September 29th, it will move to its regular Sunday night slot.
