The Plucky Squire Transforms Into a Pop-up Book With New Launch Trailer

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of gaming innovations and transformations. Yet, when I stumbled upon The Plucky Squire, it felt like a breath of fresh air in this digital world we inhabit. The pop-up paper book style in the launch trailer was not just visually captivating, but also reminiscent of those cherished storybooks from my childhood that sparked my initial fascination with gaming.

Tomorrow, “The Plucky Squire,” an innovative 2D/3D game developed by All Possible Futures, will be available on consoles and PC. Although earlier previews highlighted its gameplay duration and user-friendly aspects, the launch trailer presents a unique twist. Instead of showcasing action sequences, it’s a pop-up paper book illustrating the game’s key moments, artistically designed by Julia Yus and Yeray Pérez Vallejo. Take a look at it below.

In this account, you’ll find instances where Jot engages in what appears to be a battle with a creature resembling a honey badger, eliminates airborne insects using a bow (for further information on how he acquired it, see here), and much more. Apart from Humgrump, there could be new boss characters, such as a colossal flying bird. The trailer concludes with a panoramic view of the Land of Mojo, showcasing Humgrump looming ominously close to Artia, the queen’s residence.

The game titled “The Plucky Squire” is set to release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Notably, it will be accessible on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium from day one. The game has been confirmed to run on the Steam Deck. However, it’s important to note that it may not maintain a 60 frames per second rate on the Nintendo Switch.>
