As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I’ve seen the evolution of graphics and performance over the years. From 8-bit to 16-bit, from CD-ROMs to HD discs, and now digital downloads. The journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. And just when I thought we were entering an era of smooth 60 FPS gameplay on all platforms, Devolver Digital drops the bombshell that The Plucky Squire won’t run at 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch.
In just under a week, the much-anticipated action-adventure game titled “The Plucky Squire” will be released. More specifics about the game are being unveiled by its developers, All Possible Futures, and publisher, Devolver Digital.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that The Plucky Squire on Nintendo Switch will operate smoothly at 30 Frames Per Second (FPS). When inquisitive fans like me asked Devolver Digital on Twitter if the game could run at an impressive 60 FPS on the Nintendo console, they regretfully replied that the Switch isn’t capable of sustaining such a high frame rate, which is quite unfortunate.
As an ardent gamer, I’ve been eagerly awaiting official confirmation about the performance targets for this game across various platforms. However, based on speculation, I believe it’s a safe bet that the game will strive to achieve 60 FPS on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. In contrast, it might aim for a different frame rate on the Switch.
Earlier, the developer All Possible Futures disclosed that the main story of ‘The Plucky Squire’ is expected to last around 8-10 hours. They later announced that the game has been verified for Steam Deck compatibility. A recent trailer also highlighted its accessibility features.
The spirited squire is set to debut on September 17 across platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. On the PlayStation 5, it will be available simultaneously as part of the PlayStation Game Collection’s launch day.
No, it can’t maintain that unfortunately.
