The Powerpuff Girls, an old favorite, is preparing to reappear on television screens after a long hiatus, with a brand new timeslot scheduled on Cartoon Network. Warner Bros. Animation has been creative in commemorating their classic Cartoon Network shows, even reviving some of these timeless series for regular airings through the special Checkered Past block with Adult Swim. However, there are other well-loved series that fans have been eagerly waiting to see return to our screens but haven’t made a comeback yet.
Recently, there’s been plenty of chatter online about The Powerpuff Girls due to a leaked live-action pilot. This has sparked renewed interest in the original animated series, which is at an all-time peak now. Luckily, it seems that watching episodes from the classic series will become simpler, as Cartoon Network has announced that The Powerpuff Girls will be back on Saturday, April 12th, as part of a new morning schedule that also welcomes the return of Steven Universe to the network.
The Powerpuff Girls Returns to Cartoon Network
On April 12th, Saturdays will see the comeback of The Powerpuff Girls on Cartoon Network. Fortunately, this isn’t a re-run of the 2016 reboot that was widely criticized by fans and critics. Here’s how their schedule looks:
This way, I tried to make it more conversational and easier to read while still maintaining the original intent.
- 9:00AM – Teen Titans Go!
- 9:30AM – Iyanu
- 10:00AM – Steven Universe
- 10:30AM – The Powerpuff Girls
I’m thrilled about the upcoming return of “The Powerpuff Girls” to Cartoon Network! It’s a bit of a bummer that the classic episodes will soon be harder to find on Netflix, as they’re leaving their streaming service on April 2nd. However, with the series making its comeback on Cartoon Network not long after, it’s the ideal moment to reshape your weekend routines and catch up with the girls every Saturday morning!
The Powerpuff Girls last aired regularly on Cartoon Network’s schedule in 2023 to mark the animated series’ 25th anniversary. However, this comeback is more significant than usual given the excitement surrounding it. Unlike other classic Cartoon Network shows that have been reintroduced with the network, The Powerpuff Girls has not been moved into one of the Adult Swim time slots.
What’s Next for The Powerpuff Girls?
It’s unlikely that The Powerpuff Girls will transition into a live-action series, however, fresh projects related to the franchise are currently underway. Notably, the original series is set to reappear on Cartoon Network, suggesting potential future plans from Warner Bros. Animation. Craig McCracken, the creator of The Powerpuff Girls (and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends), has confirmed his return for a revival of these shows; yet, no new developments have been shared since the time of this article’s publication.
Working together with Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe (on The Amazing World of Gumball), Sam Register – who heads Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe – expressed his enthusiasm about the reboot’s launch, stating, “We couldn’t resist the chance to welcome Craig back home…With his exceptional knack for humor and creativity, he’s bringing two of his most celebrated creations – The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends – into our studio’s growing legacy. We can hardly wait for these beloved characters to become part of the new era unfolding here!
