According to TopMob News’ confirmation, the production of “The Princess Diaries 3” has been officially initiated, and Adele Lim, who previously worked on “Crazy Rich Asians,” is slated to take charge as the director for this upcoming sequel.

In the year 2001, the movie “The Princess Diaries” premiered, introducing us to Anne Hathaway as she played the character Mia Thermopolis, who transforms from an awkward teenager into a princess. This Disney production, which also featured Julie Andrews as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, was a massive success, paving the way for the sequel titled “Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.” For the first time on screen, Chris Pine joined the cast in this sequel.
Although no official casting announcements have been made for the third installment, which was confirmed to be in early stages of development in 2022, Variety suggests that the film will continue the series rather than starting anew. Previously, Hathaway has hinted at her potential involvement in the project.
She shared with V Magazine in April that the movie’s development is going well. However, she couldn’t reveal any news just yet. All she could confirm was that they were currently in a positive state.
The Oscar winner also addressed the subject in 2019, justifying the lengthy wait for a follow-up.

Mandy Moore, who originally portrayed the character Lana Thomas (the mean girl), hinted at potentially returning to the role, when she marked the movie’s 23rd anniversary on her social media platforms in a subtle way.
