Was OJ Simpson acquitted?

In June 1994, the bodies of OJ Simpson’s former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, were discovered at Nicole’s residence.

Simpson was initially interviewed the next day but was not immediately arrested.

During the seven days that passed, Simpson was instructed to turn himself in, but instead, he chose to escape in a white Ford Bronco. This action triggered a high-speed pursuit on a Californian highway, which was broadcast live to millions of viewers on television.

He eventually surrendered and was arrested for the murders of Brown Simpson and Goldman.

In 1995, during his trial, O.J. Simpson was presented with gloves thought to have been worn by the perpetrator, yet they seemed not to match his size.

In his final speech to the jury, defense attorney Johnnie Cochran said, “If something doesn’t match up, then you should find him not guilty.

Back in October 1995, O.J. Simpson was found not guilty for the murder charges related to Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

Yet, it took another two years for a civil jury to rule against O.J. Simpson, finding him responsible for the wrongful deaths of Brown and Goldman. Consequently, they ordered him to compensate the families with a total of $33.5 million in damages.

Why did OJ Simpson go to prison?

In the year 2007, Simpson found himself in custody following an incident at a Las Vegas hotel-casino, where he and a band of associates were accused of carrying out a kidnapping and armed robbery under the pretext that they were retrieving sports memorabilia they believed belonged to them.

He was sentenced to up to 33 years in prison. He was released in 2017.

What happened to OJ Simpson?

In April 2024, OJ Simpson died of metastatic prostate cancer at 76 years old.
