The beloved series, “The Simpsons,” won’t be disappearing from our screens any time soon, as they are set to return on Sunday nights later this year, marking the end of Season 36. There’s a significant change coming up in their schedule as “Family Guy” is set to replace “The Simpsons” in their long-held 8:00PM EST time slot on Fox Sundays. This announcement led to some online confusion, suggesting that “The Simpsons” might be leaving Sunday nights altogether for the first time in almost four decades, given initial plans for “Family Guy.” However, it’s now clear that this is not the case, and “The Simpsons” will still grace our Sundays.
The beloved series, “The Simpsons,” has announced its comeback on FOX, with fresh episodes set to debut on Sunday, March 30th. From this date, the show will resume its regular Sunday evening time of 8:00PM EST. Following it, you can expect other popular animated shows like “Family Guy,” “The Great North,” and “Grimsburg” to air. Initially, it seemed that “Family Guy” might temporarily replace “The Simpsons” for a few weeks starting in February. However, fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as “The Simpsons” won’t be absent from Sundays anymore.

The Simpsons Returns in March 2025
Initially, it was announced that Family Guy would shift from its Fall 2024 debut to a new midseason schedule, with the intention of boosting Animal Control on FOX. Later, it became known that Family Guy would resume for Season 23 during FOX’s winter midseason lineup, leading many viewers to be taken aback when they found out The Simpsons’ regular time slot would be temporarily occupied by Family Guy instead. This shift in schedule ignited a larger discussion among fans.
It appears that a misunderstanding occurred which caused some viewers to believe that “The Simpsons” would be departing from Sunday nights completely and possibly shifting to Wednesdays instead. However, with “Family Guy” officially launching Season 23 on February 16th on FOX, it’s now clearer that “The Simpsons” will resume their Sunday evening slot following a brief absence. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about the future of either of these long-running animated series as they are both set to continue.
What to Know For The Simpsons Season 36
As I watch on March 30th, I’ll find myself right back in Springfield as The Simpsons returns for its midseason premiere. Picking up from where it left off with Season 36, this animated series has been captivating audiences since last Fall. The buzz surrounding the experimental episodes already released is palpable.
This new season not only bid farewell to some long-standing characters who were previously sidelined, but also introduced a few daringly innovative episodes that have completely revamped the show’s format. For instance, the Season premiere was crafted as if it were the series finale – quite a twist!
Changes have taken place behind the curtain as Pamela Hayden, a long-standing star of The Simpsons, has decided to retire. As of now, the replacement voice actor (or actors) for her characters hasn’t been announced yet. To keep up with the initial episodes of Season 36 so far, you can stream it on Hulu. Additionally, the first 35 seasons, along with a unique Christmas special, are available to stream exclusively on Disney+. With new episodes coming in March, this is an ideal moment to catch up if you haven’t already.
