The long-running animated series, The Simpsons, is continuing its run with fresh episodes this spring, and a sneak peek at the upcoming episode of Season 36 hints at a significant transformation for one of the beloved characters. With the recent resumption of Season 36 in March, Fox has also confirmed that the show will be renewed for four additional seasons, ensuring an abundance of new episodes to look forward to as time passes, and likely more modifications along the way.
The upcoming episode (Episode 13) of Season 36 for The Simpsons, airing later this weekend, has given us a sneak peek. Titled “The Last Man Expanding,” it seems to focus on weight loss, which is hinted at by the title. An intriguing first glimpse shows Comic Book Guy has shed a significant amount of weight, thanks to what appears to be a counterfeit version of Ozempic called “Othinquic.” Take a look at the preview below.
What’s Going On With Comic Book Guy?
The upcoming 13th episode of “The Simpsons” Season 36, airing April 6th at 8:00PM EST on Fox, is titled “The Last Man Expanding.” From the title and preview, it appears that the show will address the recent craze surrounding the Ozempic drug. This trend has become popular online as a quick weight loss method, although it was initially designed to help Diabetes patients. Previously, “South Park” also touched on this topic. So, it seems that “The Simpsons” is ready to offer its take on this subject in the next episode.
In future episodes of “The Simpsons,” the town may become engrossed in a phenomenon similar to “Othinquic,” much like how they have in past episodes. One reason this animated series is so captivating is the way the entire town rallies around an idea and takes it to its limits, and it appears that this will be a contemporary adaptation of that concept. Notably, images shared by series showrunner Al Jean on social media hint at changes in characters Patty and Selma. You can see these updates below as well.
What’s Next for The Simpsons?
The return of Season 36 for The Simpsons on Fox has commenced for its second part, while the series continues, the future of this animated franchise has been solidified even further. It’s been announced that shows like The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad! have each been renewed for an additional four seasons, marking a significant milestone for the network. This not only demonstrates their continued confidence in these original programs but also their commitment to their lineup of adult-oriented animated shows.
As an avid fan, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming changes in seasons for my favorite shows – “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers.” Over the past few years, these shows have consistently delivered at least 20 episodes per season. But this time around, it seems like each show is coming back with only 15 episodes instead. While this might mix things up a bit in the future, it does make sense given how many animated series are currently airing as part of Fox’s Animation Domination block throughout the year. It’s clear that there’s plenty of room for all these great shows to thrive!
