Matt Selman, the showrunner of The Simpsons, has shared his thoughts on the possibility of a new film, noting that the pressure to create a film that provides both humor and emotional depth without being dull or confusing is considerably greater than with a TV show. “Writing and animating a movie that leaves audiences laughing and moved, without being boring or perplexing, carries much more weight nowadays compared to watching a TV show at home while scrolling through Instagram,” Selman explained. “Although movies require the same amount of effort as approximately three episodes, a new Simpsons movie would be nothing short of fantastic. We simply need a brilliant idea and an inexhaustible amount of time to make it exceptional.
