The Sinking City 2: Epic PS5 Upgrade Revealed as Kickstarter Launches!

Frogwares unveiled a sneak peek at gameplay for The Sinking City 2, now open for crowdfunding on its Kickstarter page with the goal of raising $105,000. In a brief 53-second clip, the emphasis lies primarily on combat, yet it showcases the returning Mind Palace and various settings. Take a look at it above, as The Sinking City 2 is set to release for PlayStation 5 later this year.

Because Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine is causing uncertainty, the Ukrainian developer has opted to utilize crowd funding on Kickstarter once more. This will help establish a financial safety net for them in case they face any problems. Previously, they employed this method for “Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened,” and the funds raised during that Kickstarter campaign enabled the team to continue working despite power outages and even allowed for quick employee relocations when necessary.

In a press statement, Frogwares CEO Wael Amr clarifies that the latest crowd funding initiative for The Sinking City 2 will continue to play its role. “Over the past three years, with this war constantly looming, we’ve become adept at adapting, although it has never been an effortless process,” he noted.

In addition to preserving its detective origins, The Sinking City 2 places more emphasis on combat and adopts a “horror as priority” style. From the videos shown earlier, Sergiy Oganesyan, Frogwares’ publishing director, mentioned that while they haven’t abandoned their investigative roots entirely, the opportunity to broaden and push the team’s boundaries has been beneficial. They have made combat and exploration central aspects, while still maintaining an atmosphere of investigation that provides depth but is optional.
