The Sinking City 2″
Description: This is a survival-horror game immersed in a Lovecraftian 1920s America. In the notorious city of Arkham, a supernatural flood has forced out most of its residents, leaving behind only the mad and unstable. The city now stands as a decaying landscape overrun by Eldritch creatures lurking in its streets.
The initial demonstration of gameplay, featuring combat, exploration by dashing, and optional investigation, has simultaneously been launched with the main Kickstarter campaign for the game.
With War Still Raging, Frogwares Turns to Community via Kickstarter
In light of Ukraine’s ongoing conflict, which affects everyone within its borders, Frogwares has decided to utilize Kickstarter again. This approach serves multiple purposes: it creates a financial safety net for the studio, allows for the addition of extra game features, and provides a direct line to their most dedicated fans.
After enduring three long years with the constant threat of war looming in our daily routines, we’ve managed to adjust, although it has never been an effortless task, Frogwares CEO Wael Amr explained. In 2023, when Sherlock Holmes The Awakened was released with the assistance of Kickstarter and our dedicated fans, we established a safety net that proved invaluable on numerous occasions. From unexpected power outages and sudden team relocations to extended development halts due to various reasons, this safety net was indispensable. Considering The Sinking City 2 will be a significantly more intricate and challenging project, we have chosen to follow the same strategy as before.
The goal for our Kickstarter campaign is set at €100,000 or approximately $105,000. In return, we’re providing a variety of rewards for our supporters, with the main highlights being two exclusive Collector’s Editions that will be exclusively available to our Kickstarter backers.
In addition to the ongoing campaign, the team has unveiled a detailed, five-minute behind-the-scenes video for developers, offering insights into the project’s progress, extra gameplay footage, and other related content.

- A Twisted Lovecraftian Tale – Experience a morally grey and captivating story focused on personal loss and woven around the Lovecraftian mythos of cults, rituals, and incomprehensible creatures.
Still Pushing The Studio in a New Direction
Under “The Sinking City 2,” Frogwares is firmly committed to their initial promise of transitioning the studio into a “horror-centric” approach. The primary gameplay elements will be centered around combat, exploration, and the chilling Lovecraftian ambiance.
In 2024, when we unveiled “The Sinking City 2”, Frogwares Publishing Director Sergiy Ohanesyan expressed that this would mark a shift in our studio’s focus towards creating games with a stronger emphasis on horror elements. Internally, the responses have been highly encouraging, indicating a successful transition. However, we are not abandoning our roots in investigation-based games completely. Instead, we’re prioritizing combat and exploration, while maintaining an investigative atmosphere that deepens the gameplay experience but remains optional.
