As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed countless tales unfold on the silver screen, I find myself intrigued by the upcoming thriller “No Ordinary Heist.” The fusion of real-life events and dramatic narrative is always captivating, especially when it comes from the minds of talented creators like Colin McIvor and Aisling Corristine.
Actor Eddie Marsan, known for his roles in “The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe,” and Éanna Hardwicke from “The Sixth Commandment” are slated to appear in a suspenseful drama that reenacts one of the most significant bank heists in British history.
Based on true events that occurred in 2004, “No Ordinary Heist” narrates the tale of two employees from a bank in Belfast, who find themselves compelled to execute a risky plan due to a criminal group holding their loved ones captive as leverage.
In the upcoming movie, Hardwicke is set to play the roles of Chris Ward, a character who becomes a victim in the plot and an employee at the bank, whereas Marsan will be cast as Kevin McMullan, both his superior and another marked individual.
According to Deadline’s initial report, the project originates from director Colin McIvor, known for his work in the Toby Jones family film “Zoo.” Meanwhile, newcomer Aisling Corristine is responsible for writing the script.
McIvor expressed that what drew both him and Aisling to this unique, intricate, and awe-inspiring incident was the human story behind it. The fact that it unfolded near his home simply heightened its dramatic allure.
Thus, motivated by inspiration, we decided to build a story around this real-life incident for our fictional play.
As a diehard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill running down my spine when I think about our upcoming project. Boasting an astounding ensemble of actors, a captivating script penned by a master storyteller, and a visionary director at the helm, we’re eagerly counting down the days until we start shooting in January 2025. It’s not just a coincidence – this timeline happens to align with the 20th anniversary of an extraordinary event that will undoubtedly add an extra layer of significance to our production.
No other cast members have been announced just yet, but the line-up is off to a promising start.
Besides being recognized for “The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe,” Marsan has also gained fame through projects like “Back to Black,” “Ray Donovan,” “Fair Play,” and “Supacell.” On the other hand, Hardwicke earned a BAFTA nomination for her powerful portrayal in the gritty true crime drama “The Sixth Commandment.
Earlier this year, he appeared in Prime Video’s A Very Royal Scandal.
