The Strange Mystery of the Hannah Kobayashi Missing Person Case

As a compassionate observer of human struggles, I find myself deeply moved by the heart-wrenching story of Hannah Kobayashi and her family. The tale of their relentless search for Hannah, coupled with the untimely death of her father, Ryan, paints a vivid picture of the depths to which love and despair can push a person.

What happened to Hannah Kobayashi?

Her family is eagerly searching for answers, as the disappearance of the 30-year-old woman from Maui has garnered significant attention, with reports of her vanishing surfacing in Los Angeles on November 12th.

Discovering she entered Mexico from California on the same day has certainly deepened the mystery surrounding our quest for explanations.

Sydni Kobayashi expressed on NBC News NOW’s Top Story With Tom Llamas on Dec. 3 that she and Hannah are equally bewildered and aggravated, mainly because of the current situation. The footage from the border security revealed Hannah walking into Mexico alone, carrying her own luggage.

Now, about a month has passed since Hannah arrived in Los Angeles, supposedly en route to New York, yet she didn’t catch her connecting flight and stayed in the city until November 11th, after which her family hasn’t heard from her.

Sydni emphatically encouraged Hannah to connect, expressing her sentiment, “I want you to truly understand how valued and cared for you are. We’re genuinely concerned about your well-being. Regardless of the circumstances you find yourself in, there will always be a place where you can return to safety.

And then the family was thrown for another loop.

On December 4, it was reported by Los Angeles Magazine that the FBI is examining if Hannah’s marriage was part of a strategy to assist someone in obtaining a green card in return for payment, following her mother’s discovery of immigration papers suggesting Hannah might have been part of this underhanded deal.

The FBI’s Los Angeles branch acknowledged to NBC News that they helped with the Kobayashi investigation, but requested additional questions be directed towards the LAPD. Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that Hannah’s entry into Mexico on December 2 was their most recent update.

Sara Azari, attorney for the Kobayashi family, declared on December 4th in a statement that the family hasn’t shared any details about an alleged marriage as they didn’t possess the correct facts or documents to authenticate such information. The family has neither verified the truth of the images nor confirmed the accuracy of the reported information regarding a possible secret wedding.

She continued, “This is one of many leads we are actively investigating with the help of our attorney and investigative team. We would also like to confirm that we turned over the alleged information to law enforcement immediately upon receipt.”

Beyond expressing appreciation towards the volunteers and all those involved in the search for Hannah, the lawyer also emphasized, “We politely request that everyone refrains from making hasty judgments or spreading unsubstantiated rumors. Particularly, it’s crucial not to spread allegations suggesting anyone is engaged in a fraudulent scheme, as such speculation can actually impede our quest to find Hannah and bring resolution to the distressing situation we find ourselves in due to her disappearance.

As her loved ones continue their quest for information, here’s a summary of all the events that took place following Hannah’s arrival in Los Angeles:

On November 8th, Hannah Kobayashi is reported to have traveled from Maui to Los Angeles, intending to board a subsequent flight bound for New York’s JFK International Airport, as stated by the L.A. police.

Hannah and her ex-boyfriend were scheduled on the same flight. According to the Los Angeles Times, Hannnah’s sister, Sydni Kobayashi, mentioned that they couldn’t obtain a refund for their tickets but had decided to part ways once they arrived in New York City, where Hannah was headed for a concert and a photography assignment.

In the course of things, I found myself missing my departure from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the details of which remain unclear as stated in a recent update from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Nevertheless, I ensured my luggage was checked all the way to my final destination and asked for it to be returned back to LAX.

Surveillance video reviewed by police showed the 30-year-old picking up her bag at LAX on Nov. 11.

Upon reaching Los Angeles, Hannah stopped by the Taschen bookstore located at The Grove shopping mall on November 9th and shared a photo of a book with a family member. This detail was later shared with the Los Angeles Times by Hannah’s aunt, Larie Pidgeon. Additionally, Hannah provided her address from Maui when filling out a newsletter form.

According to Larie, who is one of Hannah’s relatives and traveled all the way from Maui, they used the family’s photo data to trace Hannah’s location, which led them to Taschen. Upon arrival, they verified with local employees that Hannah had indeed been there.

On November 10th, Hannah visited the LeBron XXII Trial Experience, hosted at The Grove’s Nike store, and shared a picture of Jordan-style footwear that day. She tagged the LA Times in her post and identified her location as “The City of Angels, Los Angeles, California.

I believe she might have been spending time near The Grove, as it’s quite a popular tourist spot with numerous shops, bookstores, and museums. It seems likely to me that she was there for sightseeing and found the area safe.

According to Larie, Hannah’s text messages to her family appeared regular, with complaints about not securing another flight being included among them.

However, as reported by the Times on November 11, Larie went on to say that Hannah expressed worry about her identity being taken and her funds being misappropriated. Following this message, nobody was able to reach her.

Larie stated, “She was speaking informally with terms such as ‘honey’ and ‘baby’, and claimed someone was attempting to take her money. This is not typical for her. Her behavior seemed unusual, prompting the family to issue a warning.

Larie explained to KTLA that the messages she received were “unusual and mysterious; they pertained to ‘the matrix,’ which was completely unlike her experience.” Then, suddenly, there was no further contact.

Hannah’s phone was last active at 4 p.m. on November 11th, specifically at LAX airport, as per the police statement, when she retrieved her luggage.

Her family reported her missing the following day.

It was announced on November 18th that Hannah’s relatives had viewed security camera recordings showing her disembarking from a train at the Pico Metro station, which is close to Crypto.com Arena in downtown L.A., at around 10 p.m. on November 11th.

Hannah seems unwell, and she’s not by herself according to what her family posted on Facebook.

As reported by the authorities, Hannah traveled approximately three miles to Union Station, which is located away from the arena. At this station, she utilized her passport to buy a bus ticket that took her close to the California-Mexico boundary.

On November 12th, it was reported that she took a bus towards San Ysidro, which is often referred to as the “Entrance to the Americas” due to its status as the southernmost city in California and a frequently used border-crossing point.

On November 21, relatives held a demonstration and distributed flyers close to the downtown area where Hannah was last spotted.

At the gathering, Aunt Larie kindly requested, “Don’t cease mentioning her name, Hannah Kobayashi,” as reported by KTLA. “Everyone in our family is present. The entire globe is searching for you. If it’s possible and you can manage, please contact us. We’re not angry.

Ryan Kobayashi, Hannah’s father, expressed, “She’s a stunning girl, both within and without. If there’s any way to connect with her, please do.

At the rally, he explained to NBC4 that it’s every parent’s worst fear – we’re at a loss, unsure of how or where to begin. It’s as if we’re facing an overwhelming task, like a single grain of sand lost in the vastness of the ocean.

On November 24th, as reported by the authorities who were called to the scene at around 4 a.m., Ryan Kobayashi, a visitor in town from Maui searching for Hannah, tragically leaped from a parking garage near LAX. The incident occurred in the 6100 block of Century Boulevard.

As a diligent follower, I want to share some findings from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report regarding Ryan’s case. It appears that he experienced numerous traumatic injuries due to blunt force, and the manner in which he passed away was determined to be suicide.

At the November 21 rally, Ryan expressed to NBC4 his concern by saying, “This is every parent’s worst fear. We’re at a loss as to where or how to even begin dealing with it. It feels like a single grain of sand amidst an endless ocean.

In a statement, the RAD Movement (a non-profit organization that supports families of missing individuals) stated that Ryan had spent thirteen days in Los Angeles, looking for his missing daughter.

The family’s pain has been greatly multiplied by this loss, the group explained, adding that it is essential for everyone to stay alert as we continue our search for the still-missing woman, Hannah.

Larie stated to the LA Times that it was unfair and necessary to stop the assumption that Ryan played a role in Hannah’s vanishing. She expressed that he had passed away due to grief.

On December 2nd, the LAPD confirmed that they last saw Hannah crossing the border from San Ysidro to Mexico on November 12th, traveling independently with her belongings.

On December 1st, investigators from our department’s Missing Persons Unit inspected footage captured by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the border, which appeared to show her entering Mexico, according to the police.

As per the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Hannah is currently classified as a person who has gone missing voluntarily. The LAPD emphasizes that Hannah is not being investigated for any criminal activities and no proof of human trafficking or suspicious circumstances have been found so far.

Speaking personally, I continue to hold onto hope that my beloved sister, Hannah, is safe and sound. Despite the passing days, our search for her remains unyielding.

On December 3rd, they emphasized that the effort to find her is still ongoing, and they are determined to take every step necessary to ensure her safe return. They seek clarity and a resolution that guarantees Hannah’s safety, and they encourage law enforcement, as well as the public, to remain diligent in their search for her, steering clear of conjectural assumptions.
