As a seasoned observer of the ever-evolving world of entertainment, I find myself captivated by the vibrant and dynamic faces gracing our screens in this year’s CMT Next Women of Country class. Each of these artists brings a unique blend of talent, passion, and personality that sets them apart from their peers.
Many people, including Hoda Kotb’s fellow host Dylan Dreyer, were taken aback by Hoda’s sudden decision to depart from the Today show.
The meteorologist admitted that she only found out about Hoda’s decision to leave the morning show at the very last minute, just as it was announced live on air.
Dylan shared with TopMob News co-host Keltie Knight on the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards red carpet (Sept. 26) that he learned about the event roughly ten minutes prior to its start. He mentioned this was around the time when most people seemed to have become aware of it as well.
On that particular day, Hoda caught everyone off guard as she emotionally revealed her plans to step down from her co-anchor position on Today, a role she’s held for over 16 years and a broader 26-year stint with NBC News. She announced her departure would take place in early 2025.
60 was a turning point for Hoda, who celebrated her birthday in August. With tears in her eyes, she expressed, “I recalled standing outside, surrounded by a stunning crowd holding inspiring signs, and it struck me – ‘This is the peak of my wave.’ I couldn’t imagine anything better, so I decided that this was the perfect moment for me to embark on a new journey.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d express it this way: Beyond my daily engagements, I find myself prioritizing my precious little ones, Haley, aged 7, and Hope, who’s turning 5 soon. They share their laughter and energy with me, alongside their father, Joel Schiffman.
She mentioned that her children were born later in life and she feels it’s important they get a larger share of her time. “Time is limited,” she added, “and considering this, making this decision is incredibly challenging.
It’s possible that the individual taking over the anchor role, once it becomes vacant, could be drawn from the existing Today team. This group includes Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Jenna Bush Hager, Carson Daly, Peter Alexander, and Laura Jarrett who also co-anchor Weekend Today.
She thought, “Whenever someone’s absent, we’ve all stepped in to help out. As far as I know, no final decisions have been made, but if it’s one of our key team members, it wouldn’t be too unexpected.
However, it wasn’t just Dylan who graced the PCCAs. Continue reading to discover all the stars that attended the award ceremony.
