The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have embarked on various adventures, encountering the Dark Knight in Gotham City, battling ghosts alongside the Ghostbusters, and exploring the Upside Down with Stranger Things’ gang. But their latest comic book team-up could be their most significant yet! Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo are now collaborating with Naruto’s best ninjas from Konoha in a crossover event.
As is common in such comic book events, the teams initially clashed due to a misunderstanding, but they swiftly made amends when they understood they shared a common enemy. In an unexpected twist, it appears that the future Seventh Hokage has been accepted into the Turtle family in some unique manner.
Heads up! If you haven’t checked out the second issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto crossover yet, consider yourself warned as we delve into spoiler territory. For those who might need a reminder about this exciting anime fusion, it unfolds in an alternate universe where the Turtles live in “Big Apple Village,” which is part of the ninja world that wasn’t depicted in the Naruto shonen anime. In this story, Team 7 is tasked with protecting April O’Neil, leading both teams to discover they share a common goal. They end up spending some leisure time together, and Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi get a peek into the Turtles’ sewer lair. The Seventh Hokage finds that he shares more in common with the green-skinned ninjas than he initially thought.
Konoha Mutant Ninja Turtles
During a brief pause in his main objective, Naruto spends time with Donatello, playing vintage Nintendo games, and Michelangelo, attempting skateboarding for the first time. As Master Splinter narrates the TMNT’s history, Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, perceives a striking similarity between Naruto and the Turtles. Directly addressing Naruto, the creature says, “You are much the same. In your case, I am the ooze.” Later in the narrative, the Turtles plan to acquaint Team 7 with pizza, but their meal is postponed due to an unforeseen visit.
Before starting their meal, Naruto and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are ambushed by the Foot Clan, along with this universe’s version of Oroku Saki, also known as the Shredder. Although they appear slightly altered in this alternate world, it is evident that they are the same sinister characters who frequently menaced the TMNT in their past adventures. The upcoming two issues of the mini-series will reveal if any villains from Naruto’s universe join forces with them.
Anime Comic Book Crossovers
With anime’s ongoing expansion, comic book companies are eagerly exploring opportunities for spectacular collaborations. The fusion of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Team 7 is the latest instance of universes merging in recent times, and it could potentially be a standout event. Previously, we’ve seen Deadpool joining forces with All Might from My Hero Academia, and the Avengers clashing with the Titans from Attack on Titan. Now, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are venturing into the Hidden Leaf Village. It will be intriguing to observe if they cross paths with other anime worlds in the days ahead.
