The Thing comes to Xbox Cloud Gaming’s “Stream Your Own Game” library alongside other new arrivals

More games are set to arrive on Xbox Cloud Gaming through the “Stream Your Own Game” function, with Nightdive Studios’ The Thing: Remastered being one of them.

On Wednesday, the Xbox team unveiled a fresh collection of upcoming games that are set to be compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming, as announced via their official platform Xbox Wire. Here’s the complete rundown: [list provided]

  • Gotham Knights
  • Party Animals
  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  • The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
  • The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
  • Wobbly Life
  • Planet Coaster 2
  • Planet Zoo: Console Edition
  • Raft
  • Shredders
  • The Thing: Remastered

This news follows a series of notable enhancements to the “Stream Your Own Game” section of Xbox Cloud Gaming, with Assassin’s Creed Shadows being one of them.

2024 marked the long-awaited start of the gradual release of “Stream Your Own Game” feature, beginning with approximately 50 titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 included in the initial launch.

After that point, several minor surges of games have been released, incorporating titles such as Cult of the Lamb and Subnautica. If users are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, they can broadcast any owned games that are supported.

Currently, streaming is available on Amazon Fire TV sticks, Meta Quest VR headsets, web browsers through Xbox.com/play, and Samsung Smart TVs. In the future, Microsoft intends to expand compatibility to include the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and the Xbox PC app by 2025.

New Xbox Cloud Gaming feature allows easier swapping between titles

Alongside the latest selection of games, the Xbox Cloud Gaming squad has introduced an innovative feature that makes it simpler for gamers to switch between specific titles quickly.

Typically, you must finish streaming one game on Xbox Cloud Gaming before starting another title. However, for those currently streaming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it is now possible to instantly transition to other Assassin’s Creed games from the same series within Xbox Game Pass, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, without having to close the current game first.

In its present state, this function is only available for use in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, there are intentions to broaden its application to additional games down the line.
